An artificial intelligence (AI) system has been introduced into a multi-purpose single-seat stealth fighter Su-57, making it a military aircraft with an electronic co-pilot. This was announced on May 24 by a representative of Rosoboronexport.

"The Russian United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has implemented an artificial intelligence (AI) system to support pilots of the Sukhoi Su-57 multipurpose single-seat stealth fighter. The system will also be offered for export," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He noted that the AI assistant will support pilots during scheduled flights and in combat scenarios. The system is designed in such a way that the pilot can get a hint in specific situations. In addition, it will allow the pilot to focus on the use of weapons during combat, rather than on controlling the aircraft.

"The system helps the pilot by taking on some of the tasks during scheduled flights, such as route point navigation and flight system management," the representative emphasized.

On May 12, the UAC handed over a batch of Su-35S multi-role fighters to the Russian Defense Ministry. According to the corporation, the pilots of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) note the positive flight characteristics of the aircraft. At the same time, they meet the requirements necessary to perform combat cover missions, as well as for priority control of airspace.
