The administration of American leader Donald Trump has suspended more than 100 employees of the National Security Council (NSC) of the United States. CNN reported this on May 23, citing officials.

"The Trump administration placed more than 100 officials of the National Security Council at the White House on administrative leave on Friday as part of a restructuring led by interim National Security Adviser, Secretary of State Marco Rubio," the channel said in a statement.

According to the source, at about 16:20 local time (23:20 Moscow time), the head of the National Security Service, Brian McCormack, sent letters to employees' e-mail addresses demanding to vacate their jobs within 30 minutes.

Rubio announced the plans of the US administration to introduce major changes to the work of the National Security Council on May 14. Then it was clarified that he was going to reduce the staff of the department to 50-60 people, but no final decision was made. The Axios portal, citing an unnamed source from the White House, reported on May 23 that the reorganization of the National Security Service carried out by Trump and Rubio is part of the fight against the "deep state."
