British authorities have launched an investigation into Russia's alleged involvement in the arson attack on the home of Prime Minister Keir Starmer. This was reported on May 23 by the British newspaper Financial Times, citing sources.

"The British authorities are investigating whether the Russian special services could have recruited the trio (two citizens of Ukraine and one citizen of Romania. — Ed.), accused of arson," the newspaper said.

It is noted that the British counter-terrorism police, which is investigating, has not yet been able to put forward a theory about the motives of the crime.

According to the newspaper, in addition to setting fire to a house in Kentish Town, which is located in north London, earlier this month, attacks were carried out on a car and an apartment building previously owned by the Prime Minister.

On May 13, British police announced the arrest of a 21-year-old man on suspicion of setting fire to the Prime Minister's house. On the same day, an investigation was launched into the incident. On May 15, the BBC TV channel named the identity of the detainee, who turned out to be a citizen of Ukraine, Roman Lavrinovich. Later, on May 17, the second defendant in the case was arrested, and then, on May 19, information appeared about the detention of a third suspect.
