Trump announced the abandonment of plans to conclude a trade deal with Europe

American leader Donald Trump announced on May 23 that the United States is not considering the possibility of concluding a trade deal with European countries.
"I'm not counting on a trade deal with Europe," Trump said during a conversation with reporters at the White House.
According to the US president, European countries "did not treat the United States properly" and tried to take advantage of the country.
He noted that companies from Europe can avoid tariffs if they start producing their products on American territory and move their factories.
According to the American leader, such a tariff policy is not aimed at confrontation. He added that tariffs create motivation for companies to return to the U.S. economy.
On the same day, Trump threatened Apple to impose 25 percent duties on any iPhones sold but not manufactured in the United States. Against this background, the company's shares fell by 4%, and quotes dropped from $201 to $193 in less than 10 minutes.
