She noted that an accessory that has lost its shape instantly gives away its "age." If the bag is sagging on the sides or does not keep its shape, it's time to think about a new purchase, the specialist believes. At the same time, it is important to distinguish between soft, relaxed silhouettes conceived by the designer and cases of wear.

Obvious scuffs on the corners, handles and sides of the accessory are the first signal that the bag has worn out, but in this case you can not part with the thing, but turn to a professional restoration service, Toropova emphasized.

According to the expert, even the most expensive bag looks cheap when the metal elements lose their luster and uniformity of coating. Updating fittings often costs more than a new accessory, so it's wiser to think about buying, the specialist said.

"Sometimes it's not about physical wear and tear, but about the relevance of the design. Bags with an abundance of decor, intricate prints or patchwork techniques are rapidly going out of fashion. If your accessory has stopped matching most of the things in your wardrobe and when you look at it, it's easy to tell how many seasons ago it was bought, then trends have moved forward," Toropova said.

She drew attention to the fact that each type of accessory has its own expiration date. To keep the item attractive for as long as possible, the expert recommended using special care products, regularly changing bags in the wardrobe, without loading the same one every day, and carefully storing accessories.

For example, metal parts should be pleasant to the touch and have a uniform coating. It is also recommended to look inside the bag — the lining should be neatly sewn, the expert emphasized.
