Nikolai Volobuev, the head of the Belovsky district of the Kursk region, who was injured in a drone attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), has successfully undergone surgery. This was announced on May 23 by Anton Nazarenko, chief freelance orthopedic traumatologist at the Russian Ministry of Health.

"Nikolai Viktorovich underwent surgery, everything went well. Currently, the patient is in the awakening ward," Nazarenko is quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that after Volobuev wakes up, he will be transferred to the rehabilitation department.

Volobuev was injured on May 22 as a result of an APU drone strike on a car. According to the victim, during the attack of the Ukrainian drone, he jumped out of the car, despite the high speed, and fell into a ditch. In an interview with Izvestia, he clarified that he was picked up from the roadway by passing Russian servicemen.

The investigation opened a criminal case on the terrorist attack. Russian President Vladimir Putin called Volobuev and wished him a speedy recovery.
