UN supports prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine

The UN welcomes the prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine, and hopes that it will continue. This was announced on May 23 by the deputy official representative of the Secretary General of the organization, Farhan Haq.
"Yes (welcome. — Ed.). We hope that the exchange of prisoners of war will continue and become part of the overall efforts to de—escalate the situation," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying in response to a question.
The Russian-Ukrainian exchange, in which 270 Russian servicemen and 120 civilians returned from Ukraine, became known earlier in the day. The event was held within the framework of the agreements reached at the talks in Istanbul on May 16. Now the exchanged persons are receiving assistance on the territory of Belarus, among them there are residents of the Kursk region captured by the Kiev regime. The Russian Defense Ministry said that the exchange is planned to continue in the coming days.
