Russians talked about their vacation plans in 2025

Among the Russians surveyed, in 2025, almost 95% of respondents plan to spend their holidays traveling around Russia. This is stated in the results of a study by experts of the Roshchino Residence project, which were reviewed by Izvestia on May 25.
The largest number of respondents (31%) want to go to the seaside. 29% of respondents plan to explore the historical and cultural sights of the country. They noted the importance of expanding their horizons and gaining new knowledge and impressions during the trip.
Visiting museums and modern art spaces, studying the history and cultural peculiarities of the regions is an important point in planning a vacation for the survey participants. Year after year, more than 72% of Russians are looking for new author's routes for travel outside of mass tourism, while 28% of respondents were in favor of stability and prefer one particular resort.
Equally, almost 20% of respondents noted the need to relax as much as possible or take care of their own health during their holidays. Of these, 10% adhere to a new trend for such a type of recreation as hurkle-durkle (from the Scottish — "intentionally spending the whole day in bed"), the main purpose of which is to get the best quality sleep and lazily lie in bed or on a chaise longue. Extreme tourism proved to be the least popular. Only 2.3% of the survey participants seek to engage in active sports and get an adrenaline rush during trips.
Experts have found that 40.8% of Russians take about a week off, 27.8% take two weeks off, and 22.7% take 2-3 days off. At the same time, 26.2% of the participants shared that they were not satisfied with the quality of the proposed resort infrastructure, 38% rated resort real estate at an average level, and for 35% the existing range of resort housing offers was acceptable.
"The growing popularity of domestic tourism sets certain vectors for the development of the Russian resort real estate market. According to our data, the key factor influencing the choice of a place to stay during a vacation is the developed infrastructure in the resort complexes. Vacationers want their vacations to reflect their interests and hobbies, and they are looking for a non—standard approach to providing leisure," said Georgy Rykov, an investor in the Roshchino Residence project.
According to him, projects that present both different formats for living (hotel, apartment complex, sanatorium) and a rich leisure environment are popular: sports facilities, entertainment venues, spaces and studios for self-development, children's clubs.
Earlier, on April 18, it was reported that St. Petersburg became the most popular city among Russian travelers in May. Sochi came in second place, and Moscow came in third. The foreign top was headed by Istanbul, Minsk, Tokyo, according to the OneTwoTrip service.
