The Ministry of Defense spoke about its assistance in the return of civilians from Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation assisted in the return of civilians from Ukrainian captivity. This was announced on May 23 by the deputy head of the department, Alexander Fomin.

"Today, 270 Russian servicemen and 120 civilians, including those captured by Ukraine in the Kursk region, have been returned from the territory controlled by Kiev...> The Ministry of Defense has assisted in the return of civilians," Fomin said.

He also thanked the Belarusian authorities for their assistance in preparing the prisoner exchange.

Implementation of agreements: Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners

During the three days of the largest transfer of prisoners, 1,000 people returned to Russia.

The Russian-Ukrainian exchange, in which 270 Russian servicemen and 120 civilians returned from Ukraine, became known earlier in the day. The event was held within the framework of the agreements reached at the talks in Istanbul on May 16. The Russian Defense Ministry said that the exchange is planned to continue in the coming days.
