- The Foreign Ministry pointed to Ukraine's desire to disrupt negotiations with Russia by UAV attacks

The attacks of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the regions of Russia in May were undertaken to prevent the implementation of the agreements reached between Moscow and Kiev at the talks in Istanbul. This was announced on May 23 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
"The latest barbaric terrorist actions of the Kiev regime have been undertaken in an attempt to disrupt the process of direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations resumed with the assistance of the US administration, <...> to prevent the implementation of the first agreements agreed in Istanbul on May 16," the department's Telegram channel said.
They noted that the Russian Federation will provide an adequate response to the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, while exclusively military facilities and enterprises of the military-industrial complex (MIC) will be selected as targets.
The Russian side has always been fundamentally committed to a constructive search for ways to resolve the conflict peacefully through dialogue, the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin called terrorist methods used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and foreign mercenaries. According to him, the enemy chooses border targets for shelling that have no military significance, and during UAV raids, Ukrainian militants hunt civilian vehicles. On the same day, the head of state said that the Russian Federation would respond to attacks from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
