The UN believes that the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are currently experiencing the "most violent phase" of the conflict, as Israel has blocked humanitarian aid supplies to the enclave. This was announced on May 23 by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

"The Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing perhaps the most violent phase of this brutal conflict, while Israel is ramping up its military offensive. For almost 80 days, Israel has blocked the import of vital international aid," Guterres was quoted as saying by The Times of Israel.

According to him, today almost 80% of the territory of the Gaza Strip "is designated either as an Israeli militarized zone or as an area from which people were ordered to leave."

According to Guterres, without fast, reliable, safe and constant access to help, even more people will die.

On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip was deteriorating. According to him, the situation in Gaza is getting worse due to the ban on the supply of electricity and essential goods.
