Ruslan Sidiki, a citizen of Russia and Italy convicted of terrorism (included in the Rosfinmonitoring list of terrorists and extremists), has been ordered to pay more than 70 million rubles in damages to Russian Railways (RZD) and other companies after the bombing of railway tracks near Ryazan. This was reported on May 23 by the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

"The damage caused to the infrastructure of Russian Railways, as well as to the owners of goods by the criminal actions of Sidiki and his accomplices, amounted to over 70 million rubles," the agency's website says.

It was established that the man had prepared and committed two terrorist attacks: an attack on an object of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the Ryazan region, as well as the undermining of the railway track at the Nedoevo station, which led to the collapse of a freight train. Sidiki failed to carry out another explosion on the railway, which was planned by his Ukrainian supervisors, as he was detained by law enforcement officers.

Collectively, the military court sentenced 37-year-old Sidiki to 29 years in prison for committing two terrorist attacks. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation added that the convict must also pay a fine of 2 million rubles, in addition, he was given a two-year restriction of freedom. Investigators continue to establish the identities of Sidiki's accomplices in terrorist activities, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation added.

Sidika's arrest on suspicion of a terrorist attack in the Ryazan region, as a result of which 19 freight train cars derailed, became known on December 1, 2023. The assistant driver also suffered minor injuries in the incident. During the interrogation, the detainee admitted his guilt and said that in February he was recruited by an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in Istanbul.
