- The perpetrator of the bombing of the railway near Ryazan was sentenced to 29 years.

The Second Western District Military Court sentenced Ruslan Sidiki, a citizen of Russia and Italy (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring), to 29 years in prison for blowing up a railway in the Ryazan Region and an explosion at a Ministry of Defense facility. This was announced on May 23 by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.
"The court sentenced Sidiki to 29 years in prison to serve the first 9 years in prison, and the rest of the sentence in a high—security penal colony," the agency wrote on its website.
It was established that Sidiki acted as part of an organized group with unidentified persons associated with the special services of Ukraine. In the period from March to April 2023, he underwent training in Turkey and Latvia in order to carry out terrorist activities.
From May to November 2023, Sidiki manufactured explosives and committed terrorist acts using drones (UAVs). In particular, there was an explosion at Diaghilev airfield, as well as the bombing of a railway in the Ryazan region. In addition, the accused attempted new attacks, including blowing up tracks near the Ryazan village of Dashki.
The court found him guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including undergoing training in order to carry out a terrorist attack, illegal manufacture and storage of explosives, as well as committing terrorist acts with grave consequences.
Sidiki was detained in December 2023. During the investigation, components for the manufacture of explosives and explosive devices, communications equipment and electronic media containing photos and video reports of the crimes committed were seized from the suspect.
