Patrushev planted a tree as part of the "Garden of Memory" campaign
Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, planted a tree after the plenary session of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress on May 23 as part of the "Garden of Memory" international campaign.
He noted that the Russian Federation pays great attention to the restoration of forests, this work is carried out within the framework of the national project "Ecological well-being". For example, the "Garden of Memory" campaign is being held throughout the country and abroad, dedicated to the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War (WWII), Patrushev emphasized.
"Such events, among other things, contribute to environmental education, preservation and transmission of the historical memory of the exploits of our heroes to the younger generation. Over the five years of the campaign, millions of volunteers from 78 countries have joined the planting of memorial gardens, who have jointly planted over 130 million memorial trees," he said.
It is specified that on the sidelines of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister held working meetings with the Vice President of Iran, the head of the Environmental Protection Organization, Sheena Ansari, and the representative of the President of Azerbaijan on climate issues, Mukhtar Babayev. The Russian Federation is working with both countries within the framework of the Tehran Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea.
Also during the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress Patrushev stated that effective management of natural resources is important for any state and for every person. In Russia, the environmental well—being of citizens is one of the strategic priorities, while the Russian Federation in this case attaches great importance to cooperation with foreign partners, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
