About 300 workers were trapped at a gold mine in South Africa.


289 miners were stranded at a gold mine near Johannesburg, the largest city in the Republic of South Africa, Reuters reported on May 22.
"Work is underway to rescue 289 miners trapped underground in one of the mines at the Kloof gold mine near Johannesburg," the material says.
According to media reports, the workers are at the collection point, and the mine's owner company is providing them with food. A company representative said that after the inspection of the mine, workers will begin to be lifted to the surface.
On April 15, it became known about a rock collapse in the Sadkinskaya mine in the Rostov region. At the time of the collapse, there were about 75 workers in the mine. They were brought to the surface. Only two miners remained cut off from the exit after the collapse. By the morning of the next day, rescuers had freed two miners.
