Iran has threatened to respond to the United States if American President Donald Trump commits erroneous actions in the Middle East. This was announced on May 23 by the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces in a statement published by the ISNA news agency.

"Any mistakes by the United States in the region will lead to the same fate as Vietnam and Afghanistan," the statement said.

In addition, the General Staff of the Islamic Republic accused Trump of inciting friendly countries in order to destabilize the situation in Iran. The statement also recalled the history of the country, in which the Iranian people have always been distinguished by bravery and fearlessness.
