A state of emergency was introduced in Yelets, Lipetsk region, after a massive drone attack The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on May 23 by the head of the central office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region, Vasily Razumnov.

"It was recommended to introduce a state of emergency on the territory of the city of Yelets," Razumnov said during a meeting with the governor of the region Igor Artamonov.

"Industrial facilities have been hit. One of the UAVs, with an unexploded charge, fell on the roof of an apartment building, the other — next to a medical college," Artamonov added in his Telegram channel.

According to him, the staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations extinguished fires during the attack on the city, despite the risk of repeated detonation.

It is specified that there are only nine victims in the city. The condition of eight of them is satisfactory. All of them are in the trauma center with soft tissue injuries and multiple cuts. Two women have traumatic brain injuries.

"As soon as the bomb technicians finish their work, we will begin the restoration work. Everything will be done promptly," Artamonov added.

Earlier this day, it was reported that at least 20 apartments in a residential building in the Lipetsk region were damaged as a result of falling UAV debris. It was noted that the administration of the Lipetsk region will provide all necessary assistance in the restoration of the affected houses.
