Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law granting preferential admission to universities to children of military personnel who took part in military operations in the territory of the Russian Federation. The relevant document was posted on the official Internet portal of legal information on May 23.
The law grants children of military personnel, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), as well as those working in government agencies where military service is provided, the right to be admitted to bachelor's and specialist's degree programs from the budget within a separate quota if they successfully pass entrance tests, as well as to enroll in preparatory departments of universities. for training at the expense of the budget.
On May 22, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, announced the allocation of more than 50,000 places in Russian universities for participants in the special operation and their relatives in 2025. In addition, another 2 thousand places were reserved for SVO fighters and their relatives in the preparatory departments of higher educational institutions.
