The media reported on plans to block Telegram in Vietnam

The Vietnamese authorities intend to block the Telegram messenger by June 2 due to the refusal to cooperate on the issue of combating crime. This was reported on May 23 by the Reuters news agency, citing government documents.
"The document dated May 21, signed by the deputy head of the Communications Department of the Ministry of Technology, instructs telecommunications companies to take measures to block Telegram and report them to the ministry by June 2," the publication clarifies.
As reported by Gazeta. The Vietnamese authorities believe that 68% of the 9600 Telegram channels and groups operating in the country violate the law and are involved in fraud, drug trafficking and links with terrorists.
Reuters clarified that the decision to block the messenger was made after the service refused to provide the government with user data when it was asked to do so as part of criminal investigations.
The Kenyan portal Tuko reported on May 21 that the Tanzanian authorities imposed a nationwide blocking of the social network X (ex. Twitter). This happened after the hacking of the police account, where a false message was posted about the death of the country's president Samia Suluhu Hassan.
