Lavrov spoke about the US position on the territorial issue around Ukraine

The USA, unlike Europe. They openly recognized the need to resolve the territorial issue in the conflict over Ukraine. This was stated on May 23 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a conference dedicated to the historical South Russian lands.
"American representatives of the current administration are already publicly saying that the territorial issue is inevitable, it will have to be resolved based on reality," the Russian Foreign minister said.
According to him, the United States began to look at the situation "realistically" when the administration of American leader Donald Trump was the first to admit the fallacy of attempts to draw Ukraine into NATO. Lavrov also criticized the position of European countries, stressing that they continue to insist on Russia's return to the borders of 1991.
The minister said that Moscow has almost completed the preparation of the memorandum, which is planned to be handed over to the Ukrainian side. He clarified that the document is based on principled positions and an analysis of the root causes of the conflict, which, according to him, must be eliminated "like a cancerous tumor."
On the same day, Lavrov announced that the second round of talks between Moscow and Kiev would take place, which can already be considered a "positive" signal. At the same time, the minister stressed that the dates of the new round of negotiations have not yet been determined. He also called the idea of meeting with representatives of Ukraine in the Vatican unrealistic.
