Effective management of natural resources is important for any state and for every person. This was announced on May 23 by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, at the plenary session of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress.

"The dynamic development of the economy increases man's responsibility to nature. In this regard, effective management of natural resources is important for any state and for every person. In Russia, the environmental well—being of citizens is one of the strategic priorities. It has been singled out by President [of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin] as a separate national goal. Within the framework of the relevant national project, the activities of all branches of government, business and citizens are combined. About 800 billion rubles will be allocated for the implementation of measures until 2030," Patrushev said.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation stated that the Russian Federation attaches great importance to cooperation with foreign partners.

"In particular, we consider it important to focus efforts on expanding horizontal ties between governments, experts and scientific communities. This will allow for a comprehensive exchange of best practices, research results and technologies globally and comprehensively," the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

He stated that the conservation of biological diversity is a challenge for all States, and international cooperation plays a crucial role here. As a result of extensive joint work in the Russian Federation, the number of the Far Eastern leopard has almost tripled, and the Amur tiger has increased by one and a half times, Patrushev said.

"Given the scale of Russia, we are aware of our responsibility to preserve natural resources. Therefore, we will continue our development with maximum care for the environment," he concluded.

On March 24, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that Russian regions would be able to receive subsidies for the creation of wastewater treatment plants near Lake Baikal. He clarified that this initiative concerns two subjects — Buryatia and Irkutsk region.
