An Asian lion cub was found in an apartment in Moscow without documents confirming the legal ownership of the animal. The city prosecutor's office announced this on May 23.

"It has been established that a three—month-old male Asian lion was illegally kept on a Ring Road," the agency said in a statement on its Telegram channel.

Currently, the lion cub has been transferred to a specialized organization for further examination and care.

The Asian lion is included in the list of species protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Wild Animals and Plants (CITES).

On May 13, Sean Betrozov, a practicing lawyer at the Moscow Chamber of Lawyers and a member of the Russian Bar Association, told Izvestia that administrative liability was provided for keeping animals from the prohibited list. Russians can receive a fine of up to 30 thousand rubles.

According to the lawyer, if a dangerous animal is kept in a house or area, then you should immediately call 112. Operational services are required to ensure the safety and organize the removal of animals.
