Lavrov pointed to the falsification of history in the West and Ukraine

For many years, Western countries and Ukraine have been falsifying the history of the Russian Federation and demolishing architectural monuments that are associated with Russia. This was announced on May 23 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a conference on "Historical South Russian lands."
"The falsification of history — it didn't appear today. For many years, our detractors have been doing this in order to discredit the Russian peoples, achieve their selfish interests, and prevent cooperation in the post—Soviet space," he believes.
According to Lavrov, attempts by unfriendly countries to "drive wedges" arose when the USSR collapsed, and the growth of nationalist formations on Ukrainian territory was associated with the same period.
The Foreign Minister recalled that back in 2014, Ukraine, thanks to the support of the United States and European countries, became a military and political springboard of the West in the fight against Russia. He added that many architectural monuments were demolished in Odessa, including a monument to the founder of the city, Empress Catherine the Great.
Russian Russian military commander Alexander Suvorov, poet Alexander Pushkin, writer Isaac Babel, and other Russian figures of literature, culture, and art, as well as liberators from the Nazi invaders, whose names were associated with the Russian language, were also destroyed in the countries.
At the same time, the Russian Foreign Minister clarified that while such monuments are being eliminated, monuments to collaborators, on the contrary, are being installed.
On April 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that falsification of history leads to devastating consequences, therefore, it is necessary to firmly defend the truth about victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). The Russian leader stressed the importance of countering those who try to justify Nazi crimes.
Mikhail Vanin, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on April 25 that over 100 cases of vandalism at military monuments had been identified in Europe over the past year, with the largest number reported in Poland and Lithuania. At the same time, according to him, the authorities of Poland and the Czech Republic practically do not respond to such events, often simply not responding to requests from the Russian Federation.
