Georgia has banned Russians and Belarusians from taking cars out of the country

Georgia has imposed a total ban on Russian and Belarusian citizens from exporting cars from the country, and the ban came into force on May 15. On Friday, May 23, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Agency of Services of the Georgian Interior Ministry.
In 2023, Georgia banned the re-export of cars imported from the United States and the European Union to Russia and Belarus. Thus, she joined the sanctions that apply to cars with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters, as well as electric and hybrid cars.
It is noted that at that time the Georgian authorities did not restrict Russians and Belarusians from exporting cars to other countries, but now this opportunity is closed to them.
On May 20, it was reported that passenger car shipments from South Korea to Russia in April reached their highest level since March 2023. In the middle of spring, South Korean cars worth $90 million were imported to Russia. This is twice as much as a year earlier, and a quarter higher than last month.
Also that day, it became known that Russia had lost its status as the largest buyer of Chinese passenger cars. By the end of April 2025, she was ranked sixth in this ranking, although she had previously been the leader.
