Orban accused Ukraine of spying on Hungarian territory


Ukraine conducts espionage operations in Hungary, including intelligence operations. This was announced on May 23 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the air of Kossuth radio station.
"Many of their actions indicate that they are trying to convince Hungarians of the need to support Ukraine's membership in the European Union (EU)," he stressed.
"The newspaper.Ru" added that Ukrainian agents are establishing contacts with opposition parties in Hungary and carrying out "disinformation campaigns." The politician stressed that these actions are aimed at undermining confidence in the ongoing referendum in Hungary on Ukraine's accession to the EU.
"Their special services are conducting operational activities on the territory of Hungary in order to somehow force the Hungarian government to make such a decision contrary to our interests," the prime minister said.
On May 20, Hungarian Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Relations Zoltan Kovacs said that Hungarian intelligence agencies had uncovered two Ukrainian spies working and collecting information on the territory of the republic. It was clarified that their task was to change public opinion in Hungary in relation to Ukraine.
