In the first three months of 2025, 6,151 people were deported from Germany. This was reported on May 23 by the Tagesspiegel newspaper with reference to the response of the Federal government of Germany to a request from the Left Party, the Christian Social Union (CSU) and the Greens.

According to the government's document, if deportations continue at the same pace, more than 24,000 people will be deported from the country this year, which is significantly more than in previous years.

It is noted that in 2024 about 20 thousand people were deported from Germany, and in 2023 — about 16,5 thousand.

At the same time, the final figures for 2025 may grow more than expected, as deportations in the first months of 2025 are taking place according to the plans of the former federal government of former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The newspaper Die Welt reported on May 8 that Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared an emergency in Germany due to problems with migrants. It was noted that the measures provide for the possibility of denying asylum to refugees, as well as strengthening border controls and speeding up deportation procedures.
