The ex-head of Vologda was charged with receiving 11.3 million rubles in bribes.

Evgeny Shulepov, the former mayor of Vologda, received more than 11.3 million rubles in bribes from construction companies. This was reported on the official website of the Vologda Region Prosecutor's Office on May 23.
"Evgeny Shulepov is charged under clauses "b" of Part 5, Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving large and especially large bribes)," the department said.
It is specified that the criminal case has been sent to court. The investigation believes that from 2008 to 2017, Shulepov systematically received money, real estate and property services from developers through intermediaries and affiliated persons.
"The bribes, the total amount of which exceeded 11.3 million rubles, were transferred for the unhindered receipt by developers of building permits and commissioning of facilities," the prosecutor's office noted.
The property of the ex-mayor and his entourage was seized. The materials concerning intermediaries and bribe-givers have been separated into separate proceedings.
On May 20, investigators charged the detained mayor of Novocherkassk, Yuri Lysenko, in a case of receiving a bribe. Criminal cases have been initiated against the official under Articles 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe") and Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Mediation in bribery"). The total value of the property and the services provided to Lysenko is more than 8 million rubles.
Lysenko was detained on May 13 as part of a corruption investigation. On May 14, the mayor's apartment and the city administration building were searched. On the same day, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Rostov region reported that in 2024, an official received a bribe from a developer in the form of a land plot and the provision of services in the form of the construction of an apartment building on it.
