A Russian who was preparing an explosion in the path of a parade column at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) on May 9 was detained in Kaliningrad. This was announced on May 23 by the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.
As specified, the young man, born in 2000, voluntarily joined a terrorist organization banned in Russia and acted on the instructions of a curator from the territory of Ukraine. According to the investigation, the attacker was going to set off an explosive device during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory. His correspondence with a representative of a terrorist organization in the Telegram messenger confirmed the preparation of a terrorist attack.
"The Investigative Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Kaliningrad region has initiated and is investigating a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 205.1 ("Assistance to terrorist activities") and Part 3 of Article 281.1 ("Assistance to sabotage activities") The Criminal Code of Russia," the FSB Public Relations Center reported.
The young man was given a preventive measure in the form of detention. He faces up to 20 years in prison. Investigative actions are continuing.
On May 14, the Main Directorate (GU) of the Kuzbass Investigative Department (SU) announced the detention in the Kemerovo region of a resident of Kiselevsk for calling for terrorist activities during celebrations dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The man is accused of committing a crime in accordance with Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for terrorist activities using the Internet").
