The European Union (EU) has decided not to extend the temporary duty-free import of agricultural products from Ukraine. Balash Uvari, a representative of the European Commission, told reporters on May 22.
"The EU countries approved transitional measures during a technical meeting on Thursday," the Euractiv portal quoted him as saying.
He clarified that starting from June 6, Ukraine will lose preferential access to the European market, and its goods will again be subject to standard customs duties, Gazeta reports.Ru». During the period of the preferential treatment, the state has significantly increased the supply of its products to the countries of the association, Uvari noted.
The Euractiv portal reported on May 14 that Kiev could face multibillion-dollar losses due to an increase in EU duties on its agricultural products in June. It was noted that these measures would affect the marketable goods of Ukrainian exports, including poultry meat, eggs and corn, which would negatively affect the economic situation in the country.
