A suspect in the murder of Israeli diplomats has been charged in the United States.


The US Department of Justice has charged Elias Rodriguez, a suspect in the murder of two employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, and he faces the death penalty. This was reported on May 22 in the press service of the American prosecutor's office.
It is specified that Rodriguez was charged with the murder of foreign officials, causing death with a firearm and using it during a violent crime.
"Based on the facts, we will seek the harshest punishment for the perpetrator of this heinous crime," said U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
The shooting near the Jewish Museum in Washington was announced on May 22 by the US Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristy Noem. According to her, two employees of the Israeli Embassy were killed in the incident. At the same time, it was reported that the attacker was purposefully shooting at employees of the diplomatic mission leaving the museum, shouting pro-Palestinian slogans.
