Nikolai Volobuyev, the head of the Belovsky district of the Kursk Region, who was injured in a drone attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), was taken to the National Medical Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics (CITO). This was announced on May 23 by the acting governor of the region, Alexander Khinshtein.
"Last night, Nikolai Volobuyev, the head of the Belovsky district, was urgently taken to Moscow, to the National Medical Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics (CITO). <...> They met him at the CITO together with Mikhail Murashko, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation," Khinstein said in his Telegram channel.
Volobuev is currently being prepared for surgery. After the operation, as the acting governor of the Kursk region noted, the victim will have a long rehabilitation.
Volobuev was injured on May 22 as a result of an APU drone strike on a car. According to the victim, during the attack of the Ukrainian drone, he jumped out of the car, despite the high speed, and fell into a ditch. In an interview with Izvestia, he clarified that he was picked up from the roadway by passing Russian servicemen.
The investigation opened a criminal case on the terrorist attack in connection with the injury of the head of the Belovsky district. Russian President Vladimir Putin called Volobuev and wished him a speedy recovery.
