Nepalese authorities have launched an investigation into the climbing of Mount Everest using xenon gas by a group of British military personnel, which included Veterans Affairs Minister Al Karns. This was announced on May 22 by the head of Nepal's tourism department, Narayan Prasad Regmi.

"We are conducting an investigation into the travel agency and the climbers who used xenon gas to climb Mount Everest," Regmi told The Telegraph newspaper.

It is specified that the ascent of the mountain by a group of climbers from the UK took only five days and became a record time, as they used xenon, which simplifies the acclimatization process.

According to Regmi, all Britons, including Karns, will be called to investigate and take all necessary measures.

The Himalayan Times reported on May 23, 2024, that Nepalese resident Phunjo Jangmu Lama regained the title of the fastest climber on Mount Everest, setting a world record for climbing the world's highest peak in 14 hours and 31 minutes.
