Crews of T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks destroyed the Ukrainian Armed Forces strongholds in the DPR

Crews of T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks of the Southern Group of Forces destroyed strongholds and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near the town of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on May 23.

Thus, calculations of unmanned aerial reconnaissance units of the Airborne forces detected a group of enemy infantry. Their coordinates were immediately transmitted to the regimental command post. They decided to destroy them with the help of tanks, after which the T-90M crews from closed firing positions attacked targets identified in the forest plantations from a distance of more than 5 km. Accurate shots inflicted fire damage on the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The shooting was adjusted in real time using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the Russian Defense Ministry noted.

"I'm working in the direction of the Clock Yar. The T-90M tank is a good machine, it's easy to work on it," said the gunner operator of the T—90M "Breakthrough" tank with the call sign Wine.

The ministry stressed that Ukrainian militants regularly try to strengthen their units to hold the borders by sending reinforcements, but even on the approaches, new formations come under fire. Tankers carry out combat work around the clock. The priority objectives are enemy fortifications in urban areas, concentrations of enemy personnel and military equipment, including foreign—made ones.

Tankers provide fire support to the assault units of the Guards Ivanovo and Kostroma parachute regiments, destroying the enemy's hidden manpower in strong points, as well as its combat and special equipment. Tankers work both with direct fire on the front line and from closed firing positions, hiding behind the terrain, which allows them to remain unnoticed and ensure the fulfillment of combat missions.

On May 22, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Russian Armed Forces of the Center group of forces had liberated Novaya Poltavka in the DPR. The military attacked, among other things, an aircraft repair shop, a Ukrainian defense industry enterprise, military airfield infrastructure facilities, as well as temporary deployment sites for Ukrainian militants and foreign mercenaries in 138 districts. The air defense forces, in turn, shot down 317 aircraft-type drones.
