In the first quarter of 2025, Russians were 10% more likely to complain about illegal actions by debt collectors than in the same period last year, the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) told Izvestia. In total, 8,5 thousand requests were received in the first three months.

"The number of complaints about illegal actions during the repayment of overdue debts remains high. In 2024, more than 33,000 applications were received. It should be noted that only 15% of the total number of appeals concerned the activities of professional collectors. The bulk of the appeals, as before, were received in relation to microfinance and credit institutions," the press service said.

They added that applicants most often complain of violations related to the frequency of interaction.

"Making contacts with third parties without consent, who have no debts, but whose phone numbers are indicated in the loan agreement as contact numbers. Exerting psychological pressure on the debtor and other persons, using expressions and committing other acts that humiliate the honor and dignity of the debtor," the FSSP added.
