The US State Department has approved the possible sale of about 800 Javelin missiles and related equipment to the Estonian government for an estimated cost of $296 million. This was announced on May 22 by the Pentagon's Defense and Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

"The Estonian government has requested the purchase of 800 FGM-148F Javelin missiles (including eight fly-to-buy missiles) and an additional 72 Javelin light command launchers. The estimated total cost of the program is $296 million," the ministry said in a statement.

It clarifies that the potential sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States. In particular, the American side, according to the text of the document, expects to strengthen ties with its NATO ally, which "continues to be an important force for political stability."

This deal is expected to help Estonia enhance its capabilities in countering current and future external threats, as well as strengthen its defense capabilities. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not change the basic military balance in the region, the ministry said.

The Pentagon's Security Cooperation Agency a day earlier, on May 21, announced the possible sale of GBU-39/B diameter bombs to Poland for a total of $180 million. It also includes maintenance and logistical expenses.
