- The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine proposed that the EU use part of its GDP for the expenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Ukraine has offered the European Union (EU) countries to direct part of their GDP to finance the Ukrainian army. This was announced on May 22 by Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko.
"What we offer: the participation of partners in financing the Ukrainian armed forces and, accordingly, the integration of the Ukrainian army into the European defense system," he wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
Marchenko clarified that the cost of providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine will amount to a small share of the EU's GDP, which will be distributed among countries ready to join the Ukrainian initiative.
"I am confident that such a decision has a number of strategic advantages for Ukraine, in particular, maintaining financial stability in 2026," the head of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry stressed.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky said on May 10 that Europe was running out of funds to support Ukraine, and the European Commission (EC) had allocated only $1.9 billion to Kiev. According to him, Kiev spends about 3.5 billion euros a month, while 1 billion euros will need to be spent on the production of weapons. He clarified that Europe does not have the financial capacity to continue supporting the Kiev regime.
