- The media reported on the unwillingness of the United States to lower the ceiling on oil prices from Russia to the G7

The United States sees no need to lower the ceiling on Russian oil prices set by the G7. This was reported on May 22 by the Reuters news agency, citing an unnamed European official.
"The United States is not convinced of the need to lower the marginal prices for Russian oil," he said.
According to the source, the position of the American authorities is that oil prices are already falling. At the same time, it is noted that Washington is open to this idea and will continue to discuss this issue.
According to the agency, finance ministers and central bank governors of the G7 countries at a meeting in Canada promised to eliminate "excessive imbalances" in the global economy and discussed lowering the G7 marginal price for Russian crude oil exports to $50 per barrel.
Earlier, on May 20, US President Donald Trump, in an interview with reporters at the White House, said that sanctions against Russia would not be tightened, as there was a chance to achieve a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The American leader noted the readiness of the Russian Federation for dialogue on the cessation of hostilities.
