Five people were killed in a fire in an apartment building in the city of Anadyr in Chukotka. This was reported on May 22 in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (AO).

"In Chukotka, firefighters from the Russian Emergencies Ministry rescued 17 people from a burning house. Four of them were hospitalized with injuries. Unfortunately, five dead people were found on the spot," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is reported that the fire occurred in an apartment on the ground floor. According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire occurred due to careless handling of fire.

The fire has now been extinguished.

Earlier that day, it became known that seven people were injured in a fire on a wide street in the North Medvedkovo district in northeastern Moscow. It is specified that 41 employees and 11 units of special equipment of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation took part in the elimination of the fire.
