US President Donald Trump has expressed support for Israel's military objectives in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on May 22 by the press service of the office of the head of the Israeli government, Benjamin Netanyahu.

They noted that the country's prime minister had a telephone conversation with the American leader, during which military operations in Gaza were discussed.

"Trump expressed support for the goals set by Prime Minister Netanyahu to free all our hostages, eliminate [the Palestinian movement] Hamas, and advance Trump's plan (to resettle residents of the enclave. — Ed.)", — stated on the chancellery's website.

It is specified that the President of the United States also expressed his condolences in connection with the murder of two employees of the Israeli embassy in Washington.

The day before, Netanyahu announced Israel's readiness for a temporary cease-fire in the Gaza Strip for the sake of a deal on the release of hostages. The Israeli side is ready to end the war in Gaza if all hostages are released, the enclave is completely demilitarized, and Hamas leaves the Gaza Strip, he said.
