The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to the remoteness of the inter-Korean settlement due to pressure on the DPRK.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, at a meeting with South Korean Ambassador Lee Do-hoon, called the policy of pressure on Pyongyang and the "joint maneuvers" of the South Korean army with the Americans and the Japanese factors delaying a solution to the problem of the Korean peninsula. "The Russian side stressed that the ongoing policy of pressure on Pyongyang and South Korea's joint maneuvers with the United States and Japan, including involving a nuclear component, only delay the resolution of the Korean problem," the statement said.

It clarifies that a settlement can be achieved only through peaceful dialogue and negotiations.
