The IMF predicted the continued role of the dollar in global finance

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) does not predict a change in the role of the dollar as the world's reserve currency and US government bonds as a protective asset for investors. This was announced on May 22 by Julie Kozak, Director of the IMF's Communications Department.
"US government bonds are a safe haven asset, and the US dollar, of course, plays a key role as the world's reserve currency. <...> We do not see any changes in these functions," she said at a briefing broadcast on the IMF website.
The IMF considered the role of the US debt market to be "critical", supported by the level of liquidity, as well as the reliability of American government institutions.
A day earlier, Spartak Sobolev, head of Alfa-Forex's investment strategy research department, told Izvestia that the first half of 2025 could end at a rate below 85 rubles per dollar. According to him, the prospect of fluctuations in the national currency in early summer can be more accurately determined after the end of the May session.
