- Putin stated the need for additional support for residents of the Russian border region
Residents of the Russian border regions affected by the fighting need additional support. This was announced on May 22 by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with members of the government.
Putin also drew the attention of the Russian government to issues of concern to residents of the Kursk region, namely the restoration of housing, social and transport facilities, payments for lost property, and support for displaced persons.
"A separate topic, which is crucial for ensuring security, protecting human life and health, is the clearance of territories where military operations took place. The elimination of unexploded shells, mines, caches of weapons left by the militants," the president added.
In addition, Putin instructed the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, together with the presidential administration, to prepare a comprehensive rehabilitation program for the affected areas of the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions "as soon as possible."
On May 20, Putin ordered that the payment of 65,000 rubles be maintained for residents of the Kursk region until people could return to their homes. In addition, Putin supported the initiative to pay money to repair unusable houses that were damaged as a result of shelling.
