Luka Modric will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season

The captain of the Spanish football club Real Madrid, the most decorated player in the club's history, Luka Modric, intends to leave the team at the end of the World Club Championship in the United States, which begins on June 18. This was announced on the team's website on May 22.

As noted in the press release, Modric "will complete an unforgettable period as a Real Madrid player." The athlete joined the team in 2012, having left the British Tottenham. Since that time, the 39-year-old Croatian footballer has played 590 matches for Real Madrid in all competitions, scored 43 goals and made 95 assists, Sport-Express clarifies.

It is noted that the footballer became the most important player of the "brilliant era in the history" of the team. In 13 seasons, he won 28 titles: six Champions League cups, six World Club Championships, five European Super Cups, four La Liga titles, two Spanish Cup titles and five Spanish Super Cups.

On February 6, former Real Madrid and Brazilian national team player Marcelo announced that he had decided to end his career at the age of 36. He noted that Real Madrid is a unique club for him. He played 16 seasons with it, won 25 titles and won the Champions League five times.
