The DPR will open up new opportunities for investment and cooperation at SPIEF 2025

Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Denis Pushilin, Head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), met on the sidelines of the XVI International Economic Forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum" in Kazan. The parties discussed the development of the region's convention and exhibition activities and its participation in key events of the Roscongress Foundation, including the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2025.

The participants noted that the development of convention and exhibition activities is a key tool for attracting investment and stimulating business tourism in the regions. This creates additional jobs and contributes to the development of the hospitality industry, which is especially important for regions of the Russian Federation with prospects for economic growth.

"The participation of the Donetsk People's Republic in major business forums and events is an important part of a large-scale government strategy to integrate historical regions into the economic, social and political structure of Russia. The implementation of this plan is impossible without the active involvement of large businesses and the development of infrastructure. The Roscongress Foundation's experience in organizing major business events will make it possible to effectively present the comprehensive potential of these subjects of the Russian Federation and contribute to the realization of the goals of the long–term development of the DPR," said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, issues related to the participation of the Donetsk People's Republic in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held on June 18-21, 2025, were discussed. Special attention was paid to a comprehensive presentation of the economic potential of the DPR and the creation of conditions for effective interaction with the business community.

"The Donetsk People's Republic has been participating in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum since 2022. Each time it is a unique opportunity to present its great potential on one of the largest business platforms in the country. We see this as a key element of the sustainable and integrated development of the region, focused on the restoration and development of key sectors of the economy, such as metallurgy, mechanical engineering and construction. In December 2024, for the first time in the history of the DPR, a balanced budget was adopted while maintaining social obligations, which, of course, strengthens confidence in the region and creates favorable conditions for attracting capital and expanding business cooperation on business platforms, especially at this year's SPIEF," said Denis Pushilin, head of the DPR.

One of the key opportunities to promote the potential of the Donetsk People's Republic is the presentation of business support measures and opportunities for key industries at the unique SPIEF exhibition site, the expositions of the regions of Russia. In addition, the Governors' Living Room is traditionally open at the Forum, an important format for business negotiations and informal communication. Every year, the Living Room is visited by the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, presidential plenipotentiaries and other high-ranking officials, which creates unique opportunities for establishing business contacts and strengthening cooperation.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on systematic cooperation aimed at implementing strategic projects in the region and increasing the business activity of the DPR within the framework of events organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
