The heads of foreign cities belonging to the Association of Cities and Municipalities of the BRICS+ countries express their support to Russian President Vladimir Putin in establishing a just multipolar world. This was announced on May 22 by Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan, during the state awards ceremony in the Kremlin.

"I am pleased to convey the words and hopes and great support of my colleagues, the foreign mayors. And I wish you success in establishing a more just multipolar world and achieving the goal of long—term peace," Metshin said after being awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree.

The Association of Cities and Municipalities of the BRICS+ countries was established at the BRICS+ Cities Forum in Kazan on June 21, 2024, where more than 200 representatives from 20 countries gathered. The association should unite more than 18,000 cities, establish productive relations and exchange experiences between them and improve the quality of life of 2.6 billion people.

Earlier, on November 5, 2024, during the ceremony of presenting credentials to foreign ambassadors in the Kremlin, Putin said that Russia had a serious task in BRICS — the integration of new participants. The Head of State noted that BRICS cooperation, which is built on the basis of mutual respect and consideration of the interests of each side, brings them concrete, tangible results and it is felt in practice.
