- Kovalchuk announced plans of the Russian Federation to develop cooperation with Abkhazia in the scientific field

Russia plans to develop contacts with Abkhazia in the scientific field by creating a program of bilateral cooperation and opening branches of universities. This was stated on May 22 by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center (NRC), at a meeting with Zurab Japua, President of the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia.
"In this case, we have also begun to prepare a program of cooperation between Abkhazia and Russia through the Kurchatov Institute and the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia. The second thing. The easiest way to interact is to open a branch. We have already opened dozens of branches across the country and, in particular, in foreign countries. This greatly simplifies interaction," Kovalchuk said at an event at the Scientific Research Institute of Medical Primatology.
In addition, during the meeting, the parties signed an agreement on scientific cooperation between the Kurchatov Institute and the Academy of Sciences of Abkhazia.
Kovalchuk also stressed that other documents will be signed with Abkhazia in the presence of the heads of state.
On May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with Abkhaz leader Badra Gunba in the Kremlin, stressed that Russia was ready to continue cooperation with Abkhazia in the economic and humanitarian spheres. In addition, the head of state noted that last year the growth of tourist flows was significant.
