The government approved an increase in the amount of maternity leave for female students to 90 thousand rubles.

The amount of maternity allowance for full-time students will increase to an average of 90 thousand rubles. This was announced on May 22 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

"Thus, the amount of assistance that a woman can receive in 140 days of so—called maternity leave will increase several times — up to 90 thousand rubles on average in the country," he said during a government meeting.

It is noted that the amount of payments will be calculated according to the regional minimum subsistence level, and not the scholarship. Mishustin clarified that the provision of this support will be financed from the federal budget of the state.

At the same time, benefits will be provided to students of universities, colleges, as well as in institutions of additional professional education and in scientific organizations.

On May 19, the Ministry of Labor drafted a bill that includes an increased maternity allowance for full-time students. At the same time, it is assumed that the allowance will be assigned and paid by the Social Fund of Russia at the expense of the federal budget.
