Buddhists offered prayers for rain on May 22, at 4:30 a.m., according to the ChitaMedia news agency, citing the regional government. To appease the spirits of the water, the lamas prepared milk, butter, curdled milk, sugar, honey and molasses. They were supplemented with various symbolic objects.
Before the start of the ritual, the lamas plunged into deep meditation. They presented the gifts as healing elixirs and ornaments for water patrons. Tsyren Lama presented gifts to Lusad, the master of the water, to the sounds of sacred instruments.
