Moscow Prosecutor Maxim Zhuk supported the prosecution in the case of the murder of a man and an attack on police officers in western Moscow in June 2024, requesting 24 years in prison for the accused. This was reported on May 22 in the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's office.
"The prosecutor <...> asked the court to find 36-year-old Andrei Demin guilty under paragraph "e" of part 2 of Article 105 (murder committed in a generally dangerous manner), Article 317 (assault on the life of a law enforcement officer), part 1 of Article 223 (illegal manufacture of firearms), part 1 of Article 222 (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation and carrying of firearms and ammunition) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the department's Telegram channel clarifies.
In addition, the Moscow prosecutor suggested that the court impose a final sentence on Demin in the form of 24 years in prison with serving the first 7 years in prison, and the rest of the sentence in a high-security penal colony.
The attack took place on June 6, 2024. Then Demin opened fire with a rifle in the Fili–Davydkovo district in the west of Moscow. According to the Moscow Prosecutor's office, the accused shot the man, and while escaping, opened fire on law enforcement officers. Demin himself later explained his act by saying that the deceased had bullied him as a child.
