Russians have revealed plans for children's savings

Survey: 77.5% of parents intend to spend their savings on their children's education

Three quarters (77.5%) of parents intend to spend their accumulated savings on their children's education. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by VTB Pension Fund. Izvestia got acquainted with the results on May 23.

Every second Russian family is saving or planning to save money for the future of their children. According to the survey, 29.1% of respondents do not intend to provide their child with paid education. 19.4% of the respondents expect to spend their savings on housing for children. At the same time, 1.3% of parents indicated the purpose of the first mortgage payment. The "wedding" and "car" items were left without a choice.

16.6% of the respondents already have children's savings, and another third (33.2%) plan to start saving in the future. 23.6% of respondents have total savings for a family, not just for a child. In general, 26.6% of the study participants live without them.

Most often, "children's" money is saved on bank deposits (45.6%), savings accounts (38.1%) and insurance savings programs (25.6%). Other popular ways are investments in securities (21.9%), pension programs with the possibility of withdrawal, and real estate investments (14.4% each). Only 7.4% of respondents save cash.

The long-term savings program for children is of great interest: 31.3% of respondents are "definitely ready" to issue such a product. The main advantage of the PDS for two thirds of the respondents is state co—financing of up to 36 thousand rubles per year (73.2%). Among the stop factors, half of the parents named too long a savings period (48.3%).
